SUMMARY
This position is responsible in assisting the Store Manager to ensure the successful operation of the store. Key objectives would include but are not limited to: sales, service, inventory, maintenance, safety, and daily store operations, and other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:
Assist the store manager in the supervision and scheduling of store staff.

A Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural, Ag Business, Ag Economics, or other Ag/Business related field from a four year university is desirable. Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Willing to seek out and attend additional continuing education, seminars, classes or other job related education requirements or opportunities.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Current and valid Driver’s License required
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
COMPUTER SKILLS
Computer skills and experience is required, with emphasis on Microsoft Office Suite software. A beginning speed of 30 to 35 words per minute would be a minimum. The employee will be required to send e-mails and fill out various spreadsheets and reports. Experience with a 10-key calculator is preferred. This position requires working with numbers daily.

The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but may increase some if you go to the warehouse.
Farm chemicals and fertilizers are sold in sealed containers, but there is a noticeable odor at times.
Grain is a naturally dusty product. Since feed manufacturing means handling grain, grain dust can be an irritant to those with allergies. Because of dust particles, chemicals, insecticides and odors, those who suffer from allergies may find that Stillwater Milling Company is not an ideal place to work. Also, the wearing of contact lenses may be limited.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:
- Assist Management with promoting the value of the company by maintaining a favorable image within the community
- Maintain a positive attitude that promotes teamwork and customer service within the store.
- Promote, sell, service, and load all products that are marketed through the store.
- Maintain a general knowledge of products sold and be able to demonstrate this knowledge to customers.
- Use point of sale system to record all sales in an accurate and timely manner.
- Greet all customers and answer the phone in a prompt, profession and enthusiastic manner.
- Handle all customer complaints promptly and professionally to achieve a mutual solution.
- Make product recommendations that are in line with product specifications directed by the manufacturer.
- Assist in the hiring, training and termination of all store personnel.
- Attend training sessions and complete all monthly/annual training as directed.
- Assist with staff scheduling to ensure coverage during operational hours.
- Assist in the overseeing merchandise inventory, ordering, stocking, pricing, advertising and sales.
- Effectively communicates by verbal and written means with customers, employees and management.
- Assist in monthly and annual inventory counting as directed.
- Ensure proper stocking levels of all inventory accounting for seasonal fluctuations and special orders.
- Assist in keeping all equipment and assets in good mechanical condition and cleaned as needed.
- Assist in daily housekeeping of areas inside and outside of the store.
- Have working knowledge of company policies and procedures including but not limited to: credit, safety, food safety and VFD policies, while understanding and complying with all local, state and federal regulations.
- Regular and sustained attendance.
- Other duties as may be assigned.

- Ability to communicate effectively with employees, customers and management
- Have good written and verbal communication skills and an ability to read people, trouble shoot problems and help teams collaborate effectively.
- Ability to effectively articulate needs, convey information and provide status updates to management as necessary.
- Ability to direct employees and bring people together around common goals.
- Sold time management skills are critical. Must be able to effectively budget time for yourself as well as employees and pick up slack when needed.
- Ability to juggle multiple competing priorities and ensure that the most critical tasks are always addressed.
- Strong problem-solving skills. This requires a clear head, calm demeanor and ability to focus to resolve issues while maintaining the integrity of the organization.
